This is an original press photo. Snite Sits Up In Smaller 'Lung'-Far less cumbersome than the 900-pound "iron lung" in which 26-year-old Fred B. Snite, Jr., has been encased for more than two years is Fred's new and comparatively tiny chest respirator, which weighs a mere nine and one half pounds, and which permits him to "sit-up" like this. Fred spends seven hours daily-on the average-in his new "lung." He was stricken by infantile paralysis in China in 1936.Photo measures 7 x 9inches. Photo is dated 10-22-1938.
