At one time we had large group of D & M and other early tapered rim locks and only one keeper, so we had a number of them recast from the one we had as we knew it unlikely we would ever find the number we needed to complete sets. The keeper opening measures 4 3/8" along the bottom. Screw holes are on 3 1/2" centers.  The exterior side walls are smooth.
