Nice cast iron keeper with tapered edges for some early rim lock designs. At one time we had large group of D & M and New Haven and some other early tapered rim locks and only one keeper, so we had a number of them recast from the one we had as we knew it unlikely we would ever find the number we needed to complete sets. The keeper opening measures 5 1/8" along the bottom. Screw holes are on 3 5/8" centers.
