The bookends are Egyptian Sphinx's from the 1920's and are not marked. From the time when the tomb of King Tut was discovered in 1922, creating the Egyptian Revival in America. Polychrome bookends depicting the Egyptian Sphinx in profile, and decorated with images from Egyptian mythology: on either side of the Sphinx, lotus flowers which symbolize the sun; and across the top, the winged solar disk representing the god Horus.
