New Haven "Clotho" Figural Mantle Clock Description This clock was made by The New Haven Clock Company of New Haven CT.. 8 day open escapement time and strike on a cathedral gong. Empire sashed ivonized porcelain 6" dial, black Arabic numerals, and there are cracks at the 9 o'clock and 4 o'clock. The finish is bronze, the statue Clotho with a spindle and tablet (small crack on the bun), clock case with urn, two front feet, and a cherub in the middle, all with a floral decor. The bronze statue is Clotho ~ Greek mythological figure. She is one of three sisters known as Fate. Clotho spins the thread of life (begins life), Lachesis draws out (path of life), and Atropos cuts the thread (Death). This clock is in Tran Duy Ly book New Haven Clocks & Watches number 477. Dimensions are Height 16", Width 20", Depth 6.5", and Weight 27 lbs.
