Iron Man 2008 - The sensation that started it all and still ranks as the second-best reviewed Marvel Comic Universe title (with 94 percent on Rotten Tomatoes). It took almost two decades to get Iron Man made. Originally, Universal Pictures were set to produce the film in 1990. They later sold the rights to 20th Century Fox. Later still, Fox sold the rights to New Line Cinema. Finally, Marvel Studios decided to handle their own creation, making it was their very first self-financed film. If you combine all Iron Man movies, the three movies have made over $2.5 billion at the box office. Iron Man was the last movie for legendary effects artist Stan Winston before he passed away in 2008. After the success of Iron Man and the excitement of that post-credits scene introducing Nick Fury, Jon Favreau (Director) promised Samuel L Jackson more screen time in the sequel. Except Jackson almost didn't come back at all due to contract negotiations... then things turned around in a big way when the actor signed a nine picture deal with Marvel. The show goes on.
