Wood & Iron, made in the USA 1940's Mastermaid ironing board by the J.R. Clark Company of Minneapolis, Minnesota. This ironing board is still fully functional and can used as intended or could be a stunning display piece. It is raw wood so be careful when removing the ironing pads as you might end up with a splinter. I will put the three layers of ironing pads back on the board and will also pad the sides with pool noodles. I have access to a commercial banding machine so the board will be bound to keep the legs from flopping around. It will be carefully packed in a sturdy box so it arrives to you intact and ready to enjoy.
Here is some really cool history about a patent dispute in the 1950's when J.R. Clark invented an adjustable ironing board. This is not in reference to the model being sold, but is quite interesting nonetheless. " The patent in suit relates to ironing tables and is particularly directed to the supporting structure for the table top. The evidence disclosed the well-known fact that hand-ironing is a very tiring and disagreeable task for the housewife. The fatigue factor which results from hand-ironing has been the subject of scientific studies, and the industry was greatly interested in any device that would make hand-ironing less arduous. The principal reason why hand-ironing was so tiring was that the housewife had to stand while ironing, or sit on a high stool with her knees either spread apart or twisted to one side because of the interfering leg structure of the ironing table. There are some types of ironing where the housewife prefers to stand, but usually ironing can be more comfortably accomplished while sitting, provided the table can easily be lowered to a level where the housewife can work from an ordinary chair, and provided the supporting structure is so designed that she can sit with her knees in a normal forward position and with the surface of the table brought completely over her lap so she need not bend forward while working."
AND FOR THE FINE PRINT AND BUSINESS STUFF: This is ready to ship
right away. Orders received by 2:00 p.m.
will usually ship that same business day. Orders received after 2:00 p.m. or on a non-business day will usually ship
out the next business day. I do have a three-day handling window in case an
emergency comes up and I cannot ship as quickly as I normally do. I offer Priority Mail
for any package that qualifies as it is the fastest and comes with $100 of
insurance. If possible, I will also offer more economical shipping options, but
the drawback is they take longer to get to the recipient, sometimes are not
trackable, and do not include insurance.
Once the package has been scanned into the shipping company’s system, I
have no control over when it gets there or the condition of the packaging. If there is an issue with delivery, it will
be your responsibility to file a claim with the USPS, UPS, or Fed Ex as it may
apply. This isn't me abdicating responsibility, it is just the way the system
works. As for condition of the
item when it arrives, I pack everything carefully so that it arrives to you as
pictured. I will likely overcompensate to
keep fragile items safe such as double boxing, extra padding, and other
safeguards to help it survive any mistreatments in the shipping process. However, I cannot anticipate all the ways a
package can be damaged, but it will not be because I did not do my best to
protect it. I want you to be
delighted with your purchase and because most of what I sell is vintage, thrifted,
second hand, or unique it may not be as awesome as you thought it would
be. For that reason, I do offer a 30-day
return policy. I just ask that you reach
out to me via Pricetronic messenger as soon as possible so I can help you start the
return. Once I receive the item and it is in the same condition as it was when
it was sent to you, I will issue your refund.
Also, you will need to return the item using the same mail service as it
was sent. For example, if it was USPS Priority
Mail, then use that. Save the packaging
that it came in so that you have everything you need to package it appropriately. You will be responsible for the shipping cost
unless there was material misrepresentation on my part in the description or photos. This means you received a blue item when the listing
was for a yellow item, or the description said there were no flaws and you opened
it and there was a stain. I try very
hard to take a ton of photos of the item so that you can assess the condition
for yourself, and I also endeavor to list out measurements and describe the
item in as much detail as possible. Please reach out to me via
Pricetronic messenger so that I can help you begin the return request. Failure to reach out and do a formal return
request may result in forfeiture of your refund.
Returns Accepted for this item if it's within 30 Days
